# Resize an image to A4 size

Place a photo or scan on a full A4 page, 210 by 297 millimetres at 300 DPI, with white around it where the shapes differ.

## How it works

1. **Add your images** Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.
2. **Pick a quality or a target size** Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.
3. **Download** Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.

A4 is the paper size for almost every form, letter and certificate outside North America. When a portal asks for a document 'in A4 size', or a print shop wants a file that fills an A4 sheet, the picture needs both the right shape and enough pixels: at 300 DPI that is 2,480 pixels across and 3,508 down.

Add your picture and it is fitted inside the A4 page without being cut or stretched. Where its shape differs from the paper, the rest of the page is filled with white, so a landscape photo sits in the middle of a portrait sheet. The file records 300 DPI, so a printer puts it on paper at exactly A4.

Switch the page to landscape by swapping the width and height, or pick A5, A6 or Letter from the paper sizes in the same panel. The DPI can be lowered to 200 or 150 for a smaller file.

## Scans and phone photos of documents

A phone photo of a sheet of paper is rarely the exact shape of A4, and its edges are often a table or the floor. Crop it to the paper first, or run it through the document scanner page to flatten and whiten it; then this page puts it on a true A4 canvas at print resolution.

If the result looks soft when printed, the photo had too few pixels for A4; take it closer, or with the phone's full resolution.

## Fill the page instead

If you would rather have no white margins, switch How to fit from Fit and pad to Fill and crop: the picture then fills the whole page and the parts that do not fit are cropped. That suits posters and full-page photos better than documents.

## Into a PDF

Many forms want A4 pages as a PDF. Download the A4 images, then add them to the JPG to PDF page, or to one of the 'under a size' PDF pages if the form has a limit.

## Privacy

Your pictures are processed on our server and deleted once the A4 versions are ready.

## Exact numbers

A4 is 210 by 297 millimetres, 8.27 by 11.69 inches. At 300 DPI that is 2,480 by 3,508 pixels, at 200 DPI 1,654 by 2,339, and at 150 DPI 1,240 by 1,754. The size panel shows the pixels for whichever DPI you choose.

## Several pages

Add a set of pictures and each becomes its own A4 page image, all the same size, which keeps a multi-page document neat when it is printed or joined into a PDF.

## Printing at home

Choose 'actual size' or '100 %' in the print dialogue rather than 'fit to page', so the printer does not shrink the page to its margins. Most home printers cannot print to the very edge, so leave important content a few millimetres inside.
