How it works
Add your images
Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.

Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.
An AI file is Adobe Illustrator's own document. Agencies and designers hand logos over in it, and unless you have Illustrator it stays shut. A PNG of the artwork is enough for most uses outside a design studio: a website, a presentation, a document, a social profile.
Illustrator normally saves a complete PDF copy of the artwork inside the AI file; that is the option called Create PDF Compatible File, and it is on by default. This page reads that copy, which Illustrator itself produced, and draws it at 200 dots per inch with a transparent background. Older AI files, which are PostScript inside, are read as well.
When an AI file was saved with that option off, there is no drawing inside that another program can read; you then get a page that says so instead of the artwork, and the designer needs to save it again with the option on, or export a PDF or SVG. A file with several artboards is drawn one artboard at a time: choose the number in the editor. The upload is encrypted, and the file and the PNG are deleted within one hour.
The file you have, and the files to ask for
An AI file is the designer's workbench. It is the right thing to keep in an archive and the wrong thing to use day to day. If you are still in touch with whoever made the logo, ask for three exports alongside it: an SVG for the website, a PDF for printers, and PNGs at a few sizes for everything else. Any designer can produce them in a couple of minutes, and they spare you conversions for years.
This page is for the many cases where that is not possible. The agency no longer exists, the freelancer does not answer, or the logo is needed in a presentation in ten minutes. The artwork is inside the file, and this gets it out.
How large the PNG will be
Illustrator measures in points, 72 to the inch, and the artwork is drawn at 200 dots per inch. An artboard 300 points wide, a common size for a logo file, therefore gives a PNG about 830 pixels wide. A full A4 artboard gives about 1650 by 2340. Very large artboards, a banner or a poster drawn at real size, are rendered at a lower resolution so that the picture stays within what can be processed.
If the result is too small, enlarging the PNG will only soften it. Ask for the artwork on a larger artboard, or open the file in a vector program that reads the PDF part, such as Inkscape, and scale it there before converting.
What is drawn and what is not
Each artboard is treated as a page and drawn to its edges. Objects parked on the pasteboard beside the artboard, where designers often keep alternative versions and colour swatches, are not part of the page and do not appear. Hidden layers stay hidden. Effects, gradients and transparency look as they do in Illustrator, because Illustrator itself produced the copy that is read.
Placed photographs are the uncertain part. An image embedded in the file is drawn normally. An image that was only linked, and lives in a separate file on the designer's disk, may be missing or shown at low resolution.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Adobe Illustrator?
No. The file is drawn on our servers.
Why do I see a message instead of my artwork?
The file was saved without a PDF-compatible copy. It has to be saved again in Illustrator with Create PDF Compatible File turned on.
Is the background transparent?
Yes, where the artboard is empty.
What about files with several artboards?
Each artboard is a page. Choose the page number in the editor; one is converted at a time.
Will the fonts in my artwork look right?
Normally yes. The copy inside the file carries the fonts it needs, or has the text already converted to shapes. If a font could not be embedded, that text is drawn in a substitute.
Can I get a JPG or WebP instead of a PNG?
Yes. Change the format in the editor. For a JPG, the empty areas of the artboard are filled with white or a colour you choose, since JPEG has no transparency.
