# Convert JPG to a PDF under 1 MB

Up to twenty or more pages in one PDF that stays under a megabyte, with every page still clear enough to read.

## How it works

1. **Add your images** Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.
2. **Pick a quality or a target size** Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.
3. **Download** Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.

A megabyte is the usual ceiling on passport, immigration and bank KYC portals, and a common size for e-mail attachments a reviewer will actually open. It is a lot of room for paperwork: a long contract, a thesis appendix or an entire file of household documents can sit in one PDF.

Arrange your pictures in page order and download. The megabyte is for the PDF as a whole, so after a little is reserved for the document structure, each page takes its equal part, around 48 KB a page for twenty pages and far more for fewer. Add or drop a page and the rest are remade.

With fewer than ten pages the limit is barely felt and photos look almost as they did. That makes this page a good choice when a portal is strict about the size but you want the pages to look their best.

## Photo pages and colour

Colour photographs inside a bundle, such as property photos or ID cards, take more bytes than text pages. Put them in as their own pages rather than as part of a larger page, and they keep their detail. Text pages photographed in good light are cheap and leave more for the photos.

If your portal prefers greyscale scans, the black and white tool makes text pages even smaller before you add them.

## Long documents

For a document of thirty or forty pages, check that the photos are all upright and in order before you download, then scroll through the PDF once. A long file that arrives with page twelve missing costs more time than the minute spent checking.

## If it cannot fit

When a page cannot be made small enough for its share, it is marked over the limit. Splitting a very long document into two PDFs is often accepted and keeps every page sharp.

## Files handled privately

Each picture is processed on our server and deleted once its page is made; the PDF is put together in your browser.

## Where a megabyte is the cap

Passport and immigration portals, bank account opening, insurance claims and university theses often draw the line at one megabyte per file. It is also a safe size to e-mail: small enough to arrive anywhere, large enough to print well.

Where several files are allowed, one PDF per kind of document keeps the reviewer's job simple and each file far under the cap.

## Checking a long PDF

After downloading, look at the page count first, then at the first and last page and one in the middle. If those three look right and the count matches, the bundle is complete; zoom into any page with small figures to make sure they are sharp.

## Frequently asked questions

### How many pages can go under 1 MB?

Twenty or more ordinary pages; fewer if they are colour photos.

### Is the megabyte for the whole PDF?

Yes. All the pages share it.

### Is 1 MB here 1,000,000 bytes?

Yes, which is also under 1 MB however a portal counts it.

### Can I add HEIC photos from an iPhone?

Yes. They are turned into JPEG pages.

### Do you store my files?

No. Every picture leaves our server once its page has been made.

### Can I make the PDF smaller than 1 MB?

Yes. Lower the target in the settings, or use the 500 KB page.

### What if my portal wants PDF/A?

This makes an ordinary PDF; check whether the portal insists on PDF/A.
