# Resize your photo and signature for Karnataka PSC

Get the photo under 200 KB and the signature under 70 KB that the Karnataka Public Service Commission's applicant portal accepts.

## How it works

1. **Add your images** Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.
2. **Pick a quality or a target size** Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.
3. **Download** Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.

Applications to the Karnataka Public Service Commission, from the gazetted probationers' examination to group B and C posts, are made on its applicant portal. You fill in your applicant details once, and they carry a recent passport-size photograph and a signature. The portal caps the photograph at 200 kilobytes and the signature at 70, and takes both only in JPEG or JPG.

A phone photo is often several megabytes, and a scanned signature can be over the 70 KB line too. Here the photo is cropped to the passport shape and saved as a JPEG of 413 by 531 pixels, well inside 200 KB; the signature is cleaned to dark ink on white and saved at 709 by 236 pixels, under 70 KB.

The two limits come from the instructions on the KPSC applicant portal's sign-in page, in English and Kannada, linked with the day they were read. The portal names no pixel sizes, so the ones used here are our choice. The pictures you give us are deleted from our server once your files are ready.

## The photograph

The portal asks for a recent passport-size photograph. Take it in daylight against a light wall, looking straight at the camera, with the face and shoulders filling the frame and nothing covering the eyes. The crop box here keeps the passport proportions, so drag it until the head sits in the upper half.

If the background is cluttered, take the picture again in front of a plain wall: it gives a cleaner result than trying to remove things later.

## The signature

Use a dark pen on blank white paper and sign as you do on official documents, because the same signature is compared at the examination and at document verification. Photograph it from directly above; the cleaner lifts the paper to white, deepens the ink and trims the margins.

Kannada or English signatures both work here: the cleaner does not care about the script, only the ink.

## Applicant details first

The portal asks you to fill in and save the applicant details page before applying to any notification, and the photo and signature belong to that page. After you submit an application, the Commission says it will not change it on request by e-mail, so check both pictures before you press Save.

## For later notifications

Keep the two downloaded files together. When a new notification opens, your saved details and pictures are already there; replace the photo only when it is no longer recent.

If the portal still refuses a file, check that its name ends in .jpg and that you picked the right slot, photo or signature.

## Frequently asked questions

200 KB at most, in JPEG or JPG.

Within 70 KB, also JPEG or JPG.

### Which pixel size should I use?

The portal sets none; this page uses a passport shape at 300 DPI, which is our own choice.

No. Both pictures are deleted from our server as soon as your files are made.

### Can I upload a PNG?

No, the portal takes JPEG or JPG only. The files made here are JPEG.

### Can I change my photo after applying?

The Commission does not change submitted applications on request, so get the photo right first.

No. Kerala's commission has its own rules and its own page here.
