# Resize your photo and signature for MPSC

Get the 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo and the 3.5 × 1.5 cm signature, both under 50 KB, that MPSC Online's profile asks for.

## How it works

1. **Add your images** Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.
2. **Pick a quality or a target size** Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.
3. **Download** Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.

Applications to the Maharashtra Public Service Commission go through MPSC Online, where your profile holds one photograph and one signature for every advertisement you apply to. The portal's instructions give both sizes in centimetres, 3.5 by 4.5 for the photo and 3.5 by 1.5 for the signature, and cap each JPG at 50 kilobytes.

There is one rule people rarely expect: the file name may be at most ten characters long. Files from a phone, named after the date and time, fail it. The two files made here are called photo.jpg and sign.jpg, so they pass as downloaded; the photo comes out at 276 by 354 pixels and the signature at 276 by 118.

The sizes are quoted from the portal's own Instructions for Filling the Application Form, which its user manual repeats, linked with the day they were read. They give centimetres without a resolution, so 200 DPI is ours. Your pictures are used on our server to make the files and deleted straight after.

## The photograph

The instructions ask for a passport-size colour picture in formal clothes, taken full face and looking straight at the camera, without shadows or red eyes. The background should be a solid colour, and they suggest blue, green or red. Nothing else may appear on the scan: no watermark, no stamp and no name of a scanning app.

If you scanned your photo with a phone app that stamps its name in a corner, crop that corner out here before you download.

## The signature

Sign with black ink on blank white paper, and make sure it is your own hand, as the instructions require. The box is low and wide, so a signature written along one line fits best. As with the photo, the scan must carry nothing but the signature.

The cleaner here turns the paper pure white and the ink solid black, which also clears faint marks a scanning app may leave.

## Short file names

MPSC Online refuses a file whose name runs past ten characters. photo.jpg and sign.jpg are well inside that, so do not rename them after downloading, and keep them that way if you copy them to another device.

## Live photo option

The portal's manual also describes taking a live photo with a webcam or phone camera. If you use that option, only the signature file from this page is needed.

## Checking before you upload

Open each downloaded file once on your computer before uploading it: check that the face is sharp, that the background is even and that the signature is complete. A file that looks right at full size will look right in your profile, which shows a smaller copy of it.
