Lithuania's Migration Department describes its photo in two sizes at once. The photo itself shall be 40 by 60 millimetres, and the picture has to be taken so that a 35 by 45 millimetre rectangle can be cut out of it. Inside that rectangle the face, from chin to the top of the head, takes up 70 to 80 percent of the height.

This page makes the 40 by 60 millimetre photo, 472 by 709 pixels at 300 DPI. The printable sheet places four of them on one 4 by 6 inch photo.

The table shows the size and background with the date we confirmed them. Depending on the document, at least three identical photos printed on the same sheet may be required, which the printable sheet here gives you.

Check the official requirements before you submit. We resize to the numbers shown; we do not check face position, expression, glasses, lighting or background rules.

Measuring from the top edge

The page gives the vertical layout in millimetres: 2 to 4 from the upper edge of the photo to the top of the head, 31 to 35 from the top of the head to the chin, and 8 to 10 from the chin to the bottom edge of the rectangle. The face must be the same distance from the left and right edges.

At 300 DPI, 2 to 4 millimetres is about 24 to 47 pixels, and 31 to 35 millimetres is about 366 to 413 pixels. Place the frame so the top of the head sits just below the top edge, then check the result at full size.

A very bright background

The background must be very bright, monochrome and of one tone, with no shadows. That is closer to white than to the light greys some countries prefer, so for this preset "Replace the background" fills with white. Light the wall evenly and keep your shadow off it.

A white sheet stretched without creases behind you is a good stand-in for a wall.

Colour or greyscale

Photos for documents personalised by laser engraving should be greyscale, because laser engraving produces only greyscale images. Photos for other documents may be colour or greyscale. Ask which applies to your document before printing in colour.

Babies

If a baby's photo cannot be taken without blur or distortion, a smaller face is allowed, as long as the distance from the top of the head to the chin is more than 25 millimetres.

Paper and retouching

The portrait is printed on high quality, thin photo paper with a smooth surface, and it should match the person's current age; the department recommends a photo no more than six months old. The face must not be retouched with software to change or remove features or hair colour.
