How it works

  1. Add your images

Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.

  2. Pick a quality or a target size

Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.

  3. Download

Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.

The Nigeria Immigration Service passport portal checks the photo you upload. Its rules for uploading say the image resolution should be 600 by 800 pixels, the file should be smaller than 2 MB, and the background must be white. This page opens the photo maker with exactly those numbers.

The preset saves a 600 by 800 pixel picture, a three-by-four portrait, and keeps the file below 2 MB. The portal names no file type in the rules we read, so JPG is chosen by default and PNG is available in the panel.

The table shows those figures with the date we read them on the portal. The portal also shows example photos of what it accepts and refuses, summarised below.

Check the official requirements before you submit. We resize to the numbers shown; we do not check face position, expression, glasses, lighting or background rules.

Do not cut out the background

One example on the portal is marked unacceptable because the background was cropped out with a photo retouching tool, which changes the outline of the head, face and neck. The tip under it is to take the photo in front of a white or off-white background instead.

Leave "Replace the background" off on this page and use a real white wall or a white sheet hung behind you.

Hair, ears and accessories

Hair should not cover the face or the ears. Headphones, masks and similar items must not be worn, and hats or head coverings are allowed only for religious or medical purposes, with the full face visible and no shadows or clothing over it.

Light and expression

The lighting should be neither too dark nor too bright. Face the camera directly with a neutral expression, both eyes open and clearly visible, and the mouth closed. The background should be plain, without shadows, texture, objects or lines.

If the room is dark, face a window rather than using the flash, which can leave bright spots on the skin and reflections in glasses.

Photos of children

For children, the portal's examples ask that no other person appears and that the child faces the camera with eyes open. For a baby, lay the child on a plain white sheet and photograph from above so that no hands are needed in the picture.

A child who cannot sit alone may be held, but keep your hands out of the frame.

From a phone photo to the upload

Start from the original picture in your phone's gallery, not a screenshot. Add it here, drag the frame so your head and shoulders are centred, and download the 600 by 800 file. Upload it straight to the portal; sending it through a messaging app first can shrink or recompress it.

Before uploading, look at the result at full size. The pixel line under it should read 600 × 800 with a check mark, and the weight should show a figure under 2 MB.
