How it works

  1. Add your images

Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.

  2. Pick a quality or a target size

Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.

  3. Download

Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.

Pakistan's Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, DGI&P, lets citizens renew passports online. Its e-Services page asks for an original scan of a colour picture with a white background, 350 by 467 pixels, in JPEG or JPG format and not more than 3 MB, for renewal and for reprints of a lost or exhausted passport.

This page saves exactly 350 by 467 pixels as a colour JPEG. At that size the file weighs a small fraction of the limit, usually well under 100 KB at a high quality setting.

The table shows those figures with the date we confirmed them. The renewal portal's own photo page also mentions a 350 KB limit and a 45 by 35 millimetre print; a 350 by 467 pixel JPEG stays under that smaller limit too, so one file satisfies both readings.

Why 350 by 467

The shape is three wide by four high, a little squarer than the 35 by 45 millimetre European format. Frame the head and the top of the shoulders, centred, with the face filling most of the height. Start from a picture taken for the purpose, not one cut out of a group photo.

White background, colour picture

The background must be white and the picture in colour. A white wall a little behind you, lit from the front, gives an even white without shadows. If your wall is off-white, "Replace the background" fills it with white for this preset; check the edge of the hair at full size before uploading.

Taking the picture

Ask someone to photograph you from about two metres away at eye level, in daylight from a window. Look straight at the camera with a neutral expression and both eyes open. Remove sunglasses and anything that covers the face. Keep your hair away from your eyes.

Uploading to the portal

Download the JPEG from this page and upload that file directly. Sending it to yourself through a messaging app first can recompress it or change its size. If the portal rejects the file, look at the pixel line under the result here, which should read 350 × 467.

Renewal, reprint and modification

The same photo rule appears on the e-Services page for renewal and for reprints, whether the old passport was lost or its pages are used up. If your case is different, check the e-Services page for the category that matches it before preparing the photo.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a Pakistan passport photo for online renewal?

350 by 467 pixels, in colour, on a white background.

What file format and size are accepted?

JPEG or JPG, not more than 3 MB.

What about the 350 KB limit?

The portal's photo page mentions it. A 350 by 467 pixel JPEG is far smaller than 350 KB, so the file made here meets both.

Can I start from a phone photo?

The e-Services page describes the file as an original scan of a colour picture. Whether you scan a print or start from a phone photo, the upload has to be 350 by 467 pixels on white.

Does the background have to be pure white?

The page says white. Off-white walls often photograph grey, so check the result before uploading.

Must the picture be in colour?

Yes. The e-Services page asks for a colour picture.
