How it works

  1. Add your images

Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.

  2. Pick a quality or a target size

Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.

  3. Download

Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.

PNG is what screenshots, exported diagrams and many scanner apps produce, and a loose handful of them is awkward to hand to anyone. As a PDF they become one file that can be paged through, commented on and printed. Add the PNGs, put them in order with the arrows beside each name, and download a single document.

This page starts with A4 pages and a small margin. For screenshots, the third page size, Same as the image, is often better: every page is exactly the shape of its screenshot, with no white bands above and below, which reads well on a screen and in a presentation.

Up to twenty images go into one PDF without an account, and up to 500 on Pro. PNG files are sent over an encrypted connection and prepared on our own servers, and everything is deleted there within one hour.

The pages are stored as JPEG, so mind the quality

Inside the PDF every page is a JPEG. That keeps the document small, since a PDF of lossless screenshots would be many times larger, but it is a change of character for a PNG. JPEG was built for photographs and is least comfortable with what screenshots are made of: small text and hard edges on flat colour.

At the starting quality of 85 most screenshots look clean at normal zoom. If yours hold small or coloured text, such as code, spreadsheets or dense settings pages, raise the slider to 92 or 95. The file grows a little and the faint haze around letters disappears. Photographic PNGs can go the other way, down to 75, with no visible loss.

Transparent areas need a colour

A PDF page made here has no transparency, so the transparent parts of a PNG are filled in. White is the default and matches the paper. For a diagram or a logo drawn for a dark background, white can make pale lines vanish. Pick a different fill with the colour control in the editor, and it applies to every page; the Only this image switch lets one page differ from the others.

Soft edges are blended into the colour you choose, so a signature or a stamp with a transparent background sits naturally on the page.

From a folder of screenshots to a clean handout

A set of screenshots usually needs a little editing before it makes a good document. Crop each one to the window or the panel that matters; browser bars and desktop backgrounds add nothing and may show things you would rather not share. Screenshots from high-density screens are twice as large as they need to be, so set Resize to 50 percent and the PDF shrinks to a quarter with text that is just as readable. Then check the order once more, and download.

Name the images in order before you add them, for example 01, 02, 03, and they usually arrive in the list already sorted.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PNG kept lossless inside the PDF?

No. Pages are stored as JPEG to keep the document small. Raise the quality to 95 for screenshots with fine text, where the difference from the PNG is then very hard to find.

What happens to the transparent background of my PNG?

It is filled with white, or with the colour you choose in the editor. PDF pages made here are opaque.

Can each page have the exact size of its screenshot?

Yes. Set the page size to Same as the image. Each page then matches its picture, at 96 pixels to the inch.

Will small text stay readable?

Yes at this page's settings, and more safely at quality 92 or above. Avoid shrinking screenshots below about half their captured size.

How many PNGs can I combine?

Twenty in one PDF on the free plan and 500 on Pro, each up to 20 MB or 200 MB.

Can I turn the PDF back into PNG images later?

Yes, a page at a time, with the PDF to PNG page on this site. The pictures you get are renderings of the pages, not the original files.
