How it works
Add your images
Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.
Pick a quality or a target size
Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.
Download
Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.
Type a width, a height or both, or pick one of the preset sizes for web pages, social posts and product photos. With only one side filled in, the other follows from the picture's own proportions. With both, you choose what happens when the shapes differ: keep the ratio and fit inside the box, stretch to the exact size, fill the box and crop the overflow, or fit inside and pad the rest.
Images are never enlarged unless you switch that on. Making a picture bigger cannot add detail that was never captured, so an enlarged photo looks softer; the option exists for the cases where a form or a layout demands a minimum pixel size. The panel shows the exact output dimensions for the selected image as you change the settings, so there are no surprises in the download.
Resizing works on a whole batch at once, up to twenty images without an account, and animated GIF and WebP files keep their animation when they are only scaled. The output keeps the original format unless you choose another, and padding is transparent for PNG, WebP and AVIF or a colour of your choice for JPEG. Pictures are uploaded over an encrypted connection, resized on our own servers and deleted within one hour.
Sizing a picture for print
Paper is measured in millimetres and pictures in pixels, and the bridge between them is resolution. Photo labs and offset printers ask for 300 dots per inch. Switch the unit in the Resize panel to Print, type the width and height in millimetres, centimetres or inches, or choose a paper preset such as A4, A5 or a 10 by 15 photo, and the pixel dimensions are calculated for you: a 10 by 15 centimetre print at 300 dpi comes to 1181 by 1772 pixels.
The resolution is written into the file, so a layout program places it at the right physical size. If your picture has too few pixels for the size you asked for, it is not blown up behind your back. You get a warning and a file marked with the lower resolution its own pixels give.
Ready-made sizes for common jobs
The preset list covers the sizes people look up most often. There are widths for web pages, vertical and square formats for social posts and stories, and square product images at 2000, 1000 and 512 pixels. Pick one and both fields are filled in. The fit setting then decides how your picture meets that frame. Fill and crop is right for social formats, where the frame must be covered edge to edge. Fit and pad suits product images, where the whole item has to stay visible.
Why reduce once, from the original
Reducing a picture means merging several source pixels into each new one. Done well, as it is here, that averaging gives clean edges with no jagged lines and no shimmering patterns in fine fabric or brickwork. What it cannot do is survive repetition. A photo taken from 4000 pixels to 2000, saved, and later taken to 800 has been averaged and compressed twice, and it is softer than one taken from 4000 to 800 in a single step. Keep the original and make each size from that.
Frequently asked questions
Can I resize without changing the proportions?
Yes. Fill in only the width or only the height, or keep the fit on Keep ratio, and the picture is never distorted.
Why does my image not get bigger?
Enlarging is off by default because it only makes a picture softer. Switch on Allow enlarging if you need it.
What is the difference between Fill and crop and Fit and pad?
Fill and crop covers the whole box and trims what sticks out. Fit and pad shows the whole picture and fills the leftover space.
Does resizing reduce the file size?
Usually by a lot: half the width and height means a quarter of the pixels. You can also set the quality or a target size in the same editor.
How do I enlarge a small picture properly?
Allow enlarging stretches the pixels you have, which is fine for a small increase. For doubling the size of a photo, the AI upscaler on this site redraws detail and gives a visibly sharper result.
What is the largest picture I can resize?
50 megapixels, in a file of up to 20 MB on the free plan or 200 MB on Pro.
