# Resize a signature to 50 × 20 mm

Put your signature into a 50 by 20 millimetre box at print resolution, ready for an application that asks for exactly that.

## How it works

1. **Add your images** Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.
2. **Pick a quality or a target size** Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.
3. **Download** Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.

Fifty by twenty millimetres, five by two centimetres, is a signature size named on a range of application forms, from university admissions to passport and licence renewals in several countries. It is a slightly shorter box than the common 6 by 2 centimetres, so a long signature needs to be a little more compact to look its best.

Add a picture of your signature and it is placed whole inside the box, scaled to fit and centred, with white around it. At 300 DPI the file is 591 by 236 pixels and records that resolution, so it prints and checks as exactly 50 by 20 millimetres.

Many forms that give this size also cap the file, often somewhere from 10 to 50 KB. Put that limit into the compression part of the panel and the box and the KB ceiling are both met in one go.

## Writing to the box

Draw a 5 by 2 centimetre rectangle on white paper and sign inside it with a dark pen; it is the easiest way to get the proportions right. Photograph the box flat, from above, and crop to its edges before adding the picture.

If the paper comes out grey or the ink faint, clean the photo with the signature cleaner first, then resize the cleaned file here.

## Nothing cut off

The box is filled by scaling, never by cutting, so every stroke survives; a signature wider than the box's shape gains white above and below rather than losing its ends.

## In pixels and inches

50 by 20 millimetres works out at 1.97 by 0.79 inches, which is 591 by 236 pixels when printed at 300 DPI, or 394 by 157 at 200. Pick another DPI and the pixel count changes to match.

## Privacy

Your signature is handled on our server and deleted as soon as the file has been made.

## Matching photos

Forms with a 50 by 20 millimetre signature usually also want a photo of a set size. The passport and ID photo pages for many countries make the photo; the photo and signature together page joins both onto one sheet when a form asks for that.

## Other sizes

If your form describes a 6 by 2 centimetre box, or gives exact pixels like 140 by 60, there is a page for that, or you can enter the numbers yourself in the size panel.

## Before you upload

Look at the result at full size and check that the first and last letters are complete and the ink is solid. A faint or broken line is the usual reason a signature is questioned, and a new photo in better light fixes it.

## Reusing the file

Keep the finished file. Later forms with the same 50 by 20 millimetre box can use it as it is, and your signature then looks the same on every application.
