# Round the corners of an image

Choose how round, and the corners become see-through so the picture sits softly on any page.

## How it works

1. **Add your images** Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.
2. **Pick a quality or a target size** Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.
3. **Download** Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.

Rounded corners make a picture look like a card: softer than a hard rectangle and in keeping with how phones, apps and most websites draw their panels. Screenshots in a presentation, product shots on a shop page, thumbnails in a newsletter and app store images all look more finished with them. This page opens with a gentle curve already applied, so the first result is ready to use.

The slider sets the radius as a share of the picture's shorter side, so the same setting looks the same on a small icon and a large photo. At its highest the short ends become fully round, a pill shape. The border control sits right above it: add a border and the corners round the outer edge of the frame, not the photo inside it.

The cut corners are transparent, which a JPG cannot hold, so a JPG comes back as a PNG unless you choose WebP. The picture is processed on our server and deleted once the result is made.

## How round is right

Interfaces usually round their cards by a few percent of their size; a radius of 4 to 8 matches that look. Larger values, around 15 to 25, suit playful designs and social graphics. For an app icon, follow the store's own mask instead, since it rounds the icon itself and extra rounding leaves a gap.

## Rounded corners on a coloured background

If the picture will sit on a known colour, such as a slide with a dark background, you can save a JPG instead: choose JPG in the format list and set the colour that fills the corners in the advanced settings. The corners then match the slide and the file is smaller than a PNG.

## For a circle, use the circle crop

Rounding by the maximum only makes a circle when the picture is square. For a round profile picture, the circle crop page locks the frame to a square and lets you place it on the face.

## Screenshots and product pictures

A screenshot with rounded corners and a thin grey border reads as a window in a slide or a help article. Add a border of two or three pixels, then round it; the frame follows the curve. For a row of product pictures, use the same radius on each so they line up as one set.

Rounded thumbnails also work well in email, where a picture with soft corners looks like part of the design rather than a pasted attachment.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why did my JPG turn into a PNG?

The rounded-off corners are see-through, and JPG cannot store transparency. Choose WebP for a smaller file that keeps it.

### Can I round only some corners?

All four are rounded alike.

### Can I round many pictures at once?

Yes. Add them together; each gets the same corners, and they download as a ZIP.

### Does rounding make the picture smaller?

Its size in pixels stays the same; only the corners are cut away.

### Is my picture kept?

No. The corners are cut on our server and the upload is wiped once the result reaches you.

### Can I use this in the API?

Yes: the compress call takes radius, from 0 to 50, alongside the border parameters.

### Will the curve look smooth?

Yes. The edge is smoothed, so there are no steps on the curve even at small sizes.
