How it works
Add your images
Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.
Pick a quality or a target size
Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.
Download
Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.
Online applications for exams, bank accounts and public services often want your signature as a small image with strict limits: a width and height in pixels or centimetres, and a file weight between two values. This page opens the photo maker on its custom size, ready for those numbers. Photograph your signature, add the picture, and frame the ink.
Enter the width and the height exactly as the form gives them and pick the matching unit. The crop frame takes on that shape, which for a signature is usually wide and low. Drag it so the whole signature sits inside with a small margin. The download has the pixel size asked for, and the KB fields keep its weight inside the permitted band.
A signature is easier to get wrong than a portrait, because the limits are tight and the subject is thin lines on paper. The sections below cover how to photograph it so it stays sharp. This tool does not know any particular organisation's rules, so copy the figures from the instructions in front of you instead of trusting numbers from a search result.
Photographing a signature
Sign with a black or dark blue pen on plain white, unlined paper, and make the signature large; a big signature scaled down looks crisp, a tiny one scaled up looks ragged. Lay the paper flat near a window, hold the phone directly above it so the sheet is not skewed, and keep your own shadow off the page. Fill most of the picture with the signature before you press the button.
Why signature limits are so small
Forms commonly allow only 10 to 50 KB for a signature, because it is stored next to thousands of others and printed small. A few dark strokes on white compress extremely well, so reaching such a limit seldom costs visible quality. If the form sets a minimum that a clean signature falls below, the file is padded up to it without altering the image.
When a limit is given as "less than 20 KB", enter 20 as the maximum and leave the minimum empty. When it is "between 10 and 20 KB", fill in both.
White paper that looks grey
Phone cameras tend to render white paper as pale grey or yellow. Switching on "Replace the background" is meant for portraits and may not separate thin pen strokes cleanly, so for signatures it is better to fix the picture at the source: more light, no flash glare, and the paper filling the frame. A JPG of dark ink on evenly lit paper is what reviewers expect to see.
Frequently asked questions
What size should a signature image be?
There is no universal size. Each form states its own width, height and weight, and those are the numbers to type in here.
Can I enter the size in centimetres?
Yes. The custom size accepts millimetres, centimetres, inches or pixels, together with the DPI used to convert a printed size to pixels.
The form wants exactly 140 × 60 pixels. Is that possible?
Yes. Choose pixels as the unit and type 140 and 60. The frame takes that shape and the file is saved at that pixel size.
Should I save the signature as JPG or PNG?
Use the format your form names. If it accepts both, JPG is normally lighter for a photographed signature.
Is my signature kept on your servers?
No. The upload is processed and removed once the resized image has been sent back to your browser.
Can I rotate a signature that was photographed sideways?
Not in this editor. Turn the picture upright with the rotate tool first, or take it again with the phone held level, then bring it here to be sized.
