A post with a picture gets more attention than a post without one, but making the picture is often the slow part. This tool lays out a card for you: a small line, a large title, a line of explanation and your logo, on a colour of your choice. You change the words and the card is redrawn at once.

Each card is made at the exact size a network asks for. Pick a link preview, a wide post, a square, a portrait post or a story, and the layout adjusts to the shape. A longer title is set in smaller type so that it still fits, and you can centre the text or keep it on the left.

The card is drawn on our server from a small page of HTML, and the result is a PNG, JPEG or WebP that you download. Your logo and text are used for that one picture and are not kept afterwards.

Making a card in four steps

Start with the size, because it decides the shape of everything else. Then type the title, which is the one line people should read even if they read nothing more, and keep it short enough to take in at a glance.

Add the line under the title and the small line above it if they help. The small line suits a site name, a category or a date. Leave either one empty and it is left out of the card.

Choose a colour theme or set your own two colours and a text colour, add your logo, and download the picture. The download button is ready once the preview matches your latest change.

Choosing readable colours

Text must stand out from the background in a feed that is scrolled past in a second. Light text on a dark or saturated background works well, and so does dark text on the paper theme. Avoid pairs of colours that are close in brightness, even when they look different in hue.

A gradient adds depth without a photograph. If your brand has two colours, use them as the two ends and keep the text white or near black, whichever one reads better.

Your logo

Add a PNG, JPEG, WebP or SVG file of up to 600 KB. It is placed at the top of the card and scaled to a tenth of the height. A logo with a transparent background looks best, since it sits straight on the colour.

Tips for better cards

Keep the card to one idea. A title, a single supporting line and a logo are enough, and every extra element makes the main message harder to find. If the cards belong to a series, reuse the same colours and layout so that people recognise them.

A hundred premium templates

Pro adds a gallery of one hundred finished designs: ten layouts, each in ten colour schemes. Browse them with your own title and logo in place, pick one and the card follows. The plain colour cards on this page stay free.

Frequently asked questions

Which size should I choose?

Use the link preview size for a page that others will share, the wide size for posts on a feed with a landscape picture, and the square or portrait size for apps that show pictures in a grid. The story size fits full screen vertical formats.

Can I use my own fonts?

Not at present. Cards are set in a clean sans serif font that is installed on our server, which keeps the result the same every time.

Why does a long title look smaller?

The type shrinks as the title grows, so that it fits inside the card. Shorten the title if you want large letters.

Is my logo stored?

No. It is sent with the page that is drawn, used for that one picture, and deleted afterwards.

Can I make many cards at once?

Not in the editor, which makes one card at a time. Our API draws any page of HTML as a picture, so a script can produce a card for every article you publish.
