# Resize your signature for SSC

Photograph your signature, and get the file the Staff Selection Commission's notice asks for: a 10 to 20 KB JPG, about 6 by 2 centimetres.

## How it works

1. **Add your images** Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.
2. **Pick a quality or a target size** Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.
3. **Download** Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.

The Staff Selection Commission's applications, for the Combined Graduate Level and Higher Secondary exams among others, ask for one uploaded image: your scanned signature. The notice states it plainly: a JPG between 10 and 20 kilobytes, about 6.0 centimetres wide and 2.0 high, and warns that blurred or miniature signatures are rejected. This page makes exactly that file from a phone photo of your signature.

The photo is cleaned the way our signature cleaner does it: shadows and grey paper go, the ink becomes solid, and the crop closes in on the signature. It is then fitted inside the size and brought into the kilobyte range, with a tick when it is inside. The notice gives the size in centimetres without a resolution, so the pixels are ours, at 200 dots per inch, and the page says so.

Your photo is processed on our server and deleted straight after. Nothing is submitted to SSC for you.

## What about the photograph?

SSC no longer takes a photo file. The application captures a live photo through your webcam or phone camera while you fill in the form, and the notice gives advice for it: good light, a plain background, the camera at eye level, and no cap, mask or glasses. Prepare the room before you start, as the form will not accept an older photo.

The live photo is only taken while you fill in the form, so give it a moment.

## Signing for a small file

Sign in a black or dark blue pen on plain white paper, at your normal size, and photograph it flat in daylight. A signature written very small looks blurred once enlarged to the size the form shows; one written large and clear stays crisp when made smaller.

One good photo of your signature serves every later stage.

## A note on the two sizes

The notice's main paragraph gives about 6.0 by 2.0 centimetres, while one annexure says about 4.0 by 2.0. Both are approximate and the kilobyte range is the same; this page follows the main paragraph. If your exam's notice says otherwise, follow it.

## Keeping your application consistent

Use the same signature, signed the same way, throughout the application and at the exam, where you may be asked to sign again. A signature that looks very different from the uploaded one can raise questions at verification.

Keep the downloaded file; later stages of the same exam often ask for it again.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which SSC exams use this?

The rule shown is from the CGL notice uploaded on 21 May 2026; the CHSL notice says the same. Check your own exam's notice.

### Why is there no photo slot?

SSC captures the photo live in the form. There is no photo file to make.

### What if my signature file is over 20 KB?

The page lowers the quality until it fits. A clean, high-contrast signature fits easily.

### Can PwD (VH) candidates use a thumb impression?

The notice allows it for them. Use the thumb impression page with the same limits.

### Is my signature stored?

No. It is made on our server and deleted immediately.

### Can I sign in blue ink?

The notice names no colour. Black or dark blue both clean well; the page makes the ink black by default.

### Does the file name matter?

The notice does not ask for one; a short name such as signature.jpg is safest for any upload form.
