# Resize your photo and signature for UPPSC

Get the 5 × 6 cm photo and the 6 × 3 cm signature at 200 DPI that the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission's OTR takes.

## How it works

1. **Add your images** Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.
2. **Pick a quality or a target size** Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.
3. **Download** Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission asks every candidate to register once through One Time Registration before applying, and the registration carries a scanned photo and signature. Its scanning guide is unusually exact: the photo 5 centimetres wide and 6 tall, the signature 6 wide and 3 tall, both scanned at 200 DPI in true colour, the photo under 50 kilobytes and the signature under 30.

At 200 DPI those centimetres are 394 by 472 pixels for the photo and 472 by 236 for the signature, and that is what you get here. The photo stops at 49,000 bytes and the signature at 29,000, comfortably under the limits however the portal counts a kilobyte.

Every figure is from the Commission's OTR guidelines for scanning the photograph and signature, a one-page sheet in English and Hindi, linked with the day it was read. Pictures you add are made into files on our server and removed from it as soon as they are ready.

## The photograph

The guide's method is to paste a printed photo on white paper, scan it at 200 DPI and crop to the size. A clear digital photo works the same way here: frame your face and shoulders in the 5 by 6 shape and the file is made at the right pixels. True colour is asked for, so use a colour photo.

This shape is wider than a typical passport photo, so leave a little room either side of the shoulders when you take the picture.

## The signature

Sign in full in your normal running hand. The guide says initials are not enough and a signature in capital letters is not permitted, because the signature is your proof of identity. It must be signed by you alone.

The signature is printed on your hall ticket, and the guide warns that a candidate whose signature on the answer sheet does not match it will be disqualified, so sign the same way each time.

## One registration for every exam

Once your OTR is complete, the same photo and signature go with each UPPSC application you make. Keep the two downloaded files; if you ever edit your registration, upload the same pair again.

## If the portal still refuses a file

Check that you put the photo in the photo field and the signature in the signature field, since the two sizes differ. If a file was renamed or edited after downloading, make it again here: editing it elsewhere can push it over the limit.

## Frequently asked questions

### What size is the UPPSC photo?

5 cm wide and 6 cm tall at 200 DPI, under 50 KB.

### And the signature?

6 cm wide and 3 cm tall at 200 DPI, under 30 KB.

### Can I sign with my initials?

No. The guide asks for a full signature; initials and capital letters are not accepted.

### Are my files stored?

No. Both are made on our server and deleted from it straight away.

### Why 200 DPI?

The guide sets 200 DPI for both scans; the files here carry that resolution.

### Is this the same as the UPSC photo size?

No. UPSC is the national commission with its own rules; this page follows the Uttar Pradesh commission.

### What happens if my signature does not match at the exam?

The guide says the candidate will be disqualified, so always sign the same way.
