How it works
Add your images
Drag and drop, paste, or pick files. They upload over an encrypted connection.
Pick a quality or a target size
Use the quality slider, or tell it exactly how many KB or MB you need.
Download
Save each file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.
A plain white background is what online shops, catalogues, CVs and many application forms ask for. Getting one with a camera needs a backdrop and good lighting; getting one here needs only the photo. The tool cuts out the subject and puts pure white behind it, and this page opens the editor with white already selected.
Because the background is solid, you can download a JPG, which is the format most upload forms expect and gives a small file. PNG and WebP are there too if you prefer. The white is exact white, so the photo blends into a white web page with no visible box around it. If the outline looks too hard against the white, raise the feather slider slightly; edge refinement for hair is already on.
A few honest limits. A subject that is itself white or very pale, such as a white shirt or a white product, has little contrast with a pale original background, and the edge can be less accurate there. Shadows under an object are removed along with the background, so the result has no ground shadow. If you need a specific size, pick a product canvas or use the resize tool afterwards. Photos are uploaded over an encrypted connection, handled on our own servers, and deleted within one hour.
Why shops ask for pure white
Large marketplaces want the main picture of a listing on pure white, meaning red, green and blue all at 255. The reason is visual order: a search page of forty products looks like a catalogue when every one sits on the same white, and like a flea market when each brings its own table and wallpaper. Many also expect the product to fill most of the frame. The white made here is that exact value in every background pixel, so nothing off-white is left behind for an automatic check to object to.
Pick a product canvas in the editor if your shop also wants a square image of a set size. The subject is centred with an even margin.
Photographing pale products so they cut out well
A white mug on a white tablecloth is the hardest thing to hand to a background remover. The edge of the object and the background are the same tone, and the model has to guess where one stops. The fix is done with the camera, and it sounds backwards: shoot pale products against something darker. A sheet of mid-grey or coloured card behind and under the item gives the outline full contrast, and the cut is precise. The card is thrown away with the background, so the final picture is still on white.
Use soft light from two sides if you can. Hard shadows across the product itself are part of the subject and stay in the result.
JPG on white or a transparent PNG
If the picture will only ever sit on a white page, take the JPG. It is a fraction of the size of a transparent PNG and every upload form accepts it. Keep the quality high, 90 or so, because JPEG noise is easiest to see where a clean edge meets flat white.
If the page might change colour one day, or the same cut-out will go into a brochure and a banner as well, download the transparent version too. Switching the background back to transparent is instant, so you can take both files from one upload.
Frequently asked questions
Is the white really pure white?
Yes: the background is filled with exact white, so it matches a white page.
Can I download a JPG?
Yes. With a solid background JPG is available, as well as PNG and WebP.
Will the shadow under my product be kept?
No. Shadows belong to the background and are removed with it.
Can I choose a different colour instead?
Yes. Black, any custom colour and a gradient are in the same editor.
The white looks slightly grey on my screen. Is something wrong?
Not with the file. Night modes, warm-colour filters and low brightness all tint white on screen. The file holds exact white, which you can confirm with a colour picker in any image editor.
Can I put a soft shadow back under the product?
Not here. The tool does not generate shadows. Add one in a design program if the listing needs it.
